Citizen Curator: Discover Leith’s Artistic Heritage

Working with the people of Leith, in particular young people, this exhibition explored the heritage of the area through the fine art collections of the City Art Centre and the social history collections of Edinburgh Museums.

The two-year project saw a wide range of community groups’ select collections items to put on display and through workshops and creative activities creating their own artworks in response.

Selected work included that by well-known Leithers, such as Eduardo Paolozzi, as well as artworks depicting the local area by Alexander Nasmyth, Jock McFadyen and Kate Downie.

Illustrating the vibrancy of the community today, many other items in the exhibition were donated or loaned by individuals or groups active in the area.
